Your Montclair Parent Teacher Organization

Welcome to a new school year! We’d like to take a moment to fill you in on the PTO–which you are a member of! The PTO’s goal is to help promote a school community where teachers and administrators can do their best work with extra resources we can help provide. We strive for continued parent involvement in helping build a better educational environment for our children.

Fundraising is vital in order to achieve our goals to provide so many activities and “extras” the school district is unable to provide. What did our Montclair families and PTO do and what have we accomplished in the last year? Last year’s PTO and volunteers successfully raised over $45,000 TO HELP FUND Montclair! We did this through:

  • Annual Auction
  • Fun Run
  • Spring Fling & Raffle
  • Direct donations
  • Dine Out For Dollars
  • Target Red Card Rewards
  • Fred Meyer Rewards Cards
  • Thriftway can donations
  • Montclair Wear sales
  • Scrip sales
  • Box Tops for Education
  • Morning with Moms
  • Donuts for Dads
  • Valley Ticket sales

Because of our fantastic monetary and volunteer support last year, your PTO has been able to purchase and fund extra items such as supplemental educational materials for all students, Art Literacy funding to create those amazing garden stepping stones, enriching field trips like Biz Town for the 5th graders, library and multimedia materials, recess equipment...just to name a few. For a full list of everything we fund, check out the budget.

When we aren’t asking for money, we’re asking for volunteers! Even a few hours of volunteering a year makes a difference. The PTO puts on events throughout the year and provides volunteers for many things, such as:

  • Back to School Picnic
  • Harvest Fest
  • Valley Ticket Sales
  • Picture Day
  • Vision Screening
  • District Clothes Closet
  • Lost and Found
  • Donuts with Dads
  • Grounds Beautification
  • Battle of The Books
  • Morning with Moms
  • Red-Tailed Reader
  • Teacher Appreciation
  • Field Day

For the PTO to be effective and truly representative of the school, it is essential to have parental involvement from as many parents as possible, whether it’s volunteering in the classroom, chaperoning a field trip, running a battle for Oregon Battle of the Books, presenting an Art Lit project, or attending a PTO meeting—whatever your own level of flexibility, Montclair Elementary PTO always appreciates their parent volunteers, as do our teachers and staff.  Keep in mind that by volunteering, you will get to enjoy interacting with the kids, become friends with other parents, and accomplish things that truly make a difference!

As the year progresses and the committees come together, you may be contacted by phone or email from committee chairpersons. Come and see first hand how the students benefit from so many programs and all of our/your hard work.

Please come along and join us—this is YOUR PTO and as a member you can help us achieve these goals. We need you!

Have a great year, and please stay in touch.
