Art Literacy

The program consists of volunteers who go into classrooms to give a visual presentation on an artist which is followed by a hands-on art project with the students. Typically during the year, there are six different lessons presented. Monthly training sessions provided.

At-Home Projects

Taking time off from work to help at school is sometimes difficult, so consider doing volunteer tasks at home doing projects for teachers, PTO, or staff. Let you child’s teacher know if you wish to help with classroom take-home work, and let Ali Van Camp or CarolAnne Tsai know if you would like to help the PTO with our many extra duties.

Auction - Saturday, April 16, 2016

Coordinate with a committee of volunteers in the planning, procurement of items, and execution of, the auction.

Box Top Coordinator

Help our school earn money by submitting Box Tops. You can do much of the work from home. Twice a year (Oct/Feb) post the collection poster at school to let everyone know we’re collecting Box Tops they have been saving. Count, bundle and ship them off to be tallied.

Classroom Helpers

Support your child’s teacher and classmates by helping in or out of the classroom.  Assist in the classroom with reading, tutoring students & special projects. Time commitment, tasks, and schedules are flexible to suit the needs of teachers and volunteers. Clothes Closet - April 13, 2016

This resource at the Beaverton School District offices provides free clothing to families with limited income in the Beaverton School District. Each school staffs the Closet once a year.  Volunteer for a two-hour shift between 10:00 and 4:00. You will help families find what they need.


Donuts for Dads and Those Who Love Me – Thursday, November 5, 2015

This annual event is fun for kids and adults! Organize the ordering and pick-up/delivery of donuts, coffee and milk. Along with a team of volunteers, also be on hand day-of the event to coordinate.

Garden/Grounds Committee

Volunteer to help with the school grounds. Spruce up the garden and front area, plant bulbs, get the little fountain in working order and add decorative rocks and plants to our water feature. Sign up to help on a work party-even if you only have an hour to spare!  We are looking for someone with a green thumb to be a chairperson and organize work parties a few times a year.  Let’s show pride in our school!  


Library Assistants

The library welcomes help throughout the school year with shelving books, assisting students on computers, clerical tasks, and special projects such as book displays and bulletin boards.  One or two hours a week preferred. Time commitment and schedules can be flexible.

Lost and Found Clothing Processors

A few times throughout the school year, unclaimed clothing from Montclair School goes to the Clothes Closet for local families and children with limited resources. The lost items are displayed in our school, and when left unclaimed, clothing items are sorted, laundered, and delivered to the Clothes Closet. Ideally two coordinators can “share the load.” More detail description available here.


Montclair Fun Run - Friday, October 2, 2015

This is one of our big fundraisers of the year.  Students seek pledges for running and take pride in being physically active. We need volunteers to help count number of laps, collect contribution envelopes, hand out snacks and water, and cheer on our Red Tail Hawks. Loads of fun!!  Many volunteers needed to make this a success! We need both committee volunteers and day-of event volunteers.

Morning with Moms and Those Who Love Me – Friday, May 6, 2016

Oregon Battle of the Books 3rd-5th Grade - Battles begin after Winter Break

Students read a selection of books and answer questions based on books content. Assist school organizer setting up classroom teams, take pictures, decorate bulletin board, and coordinate with teachers.

Picture Day - Thursday, October 15, 2015

Help our kids look their best as they get their school pictures taken.  Escort classes, prime and primp students, and assist photographers for one or more hours during the school day.

Assist with sales of books for this library fundraiser. Set up and break down help needed as well.

Staff Appreciation Week(s) (Dates to be announced)

During the last several weeks of school, parents from each grade provide a lunch once a week to honor and appreciate our wonderful Montclair teachers and staff. The chairperson schedules the lunch days with office staff, and finds a lunch coordinator from every grade, who then coordinates each grade lunch.

Valley Theater Ticket Sales (Fall & Spring)

Assist with distribution of flyers communicating the program; including dates, times and movies offered.

Vision Screening - Wednesday, September 23, 2015

Help us test vision for students using standard eye charts.  No medical experience needed. Volutneers needed day-of.

Winter Raffle and Fundraising Event - Friday, February 5, 6:30-8:30pm

Help us plan and execute an exciting fundraising event that includes the very popular Montclair raffle baskets, teacher times/sensational sign ups, and family fun!

Yearbook Coordinators

Plan and work on the yearbook. Duties include coordinating volunteers to take photos throughout the year in the school and at events and produce for print a yearbook that goes to every student on the last day of school.
